The other day we gave you a sneak peek at Poster Posse member, Joe Vetoe’s entry into Planet Pulp’s latest project, “Besties.” Well since then there has been a plethora of amazing art submitted so we wanted to circle around and give you a look.First up we wanted to share the work of another Poster Posse member, Harlan Elam. this one was a no brainer for me because Harlan has chosen one of my all time favorite films, “The Day The Earth Stood Still.“
Here is what Harlan had to say about this project. I had been looking for a reason to tackle a black & white classic, so when I saw Planet-Pulp’s “Besties” theme I immediately thought of The Day the Earth Stood Still. Klaatu & Gort made for quite the dynamic duo coming out of that ship in 1951. I wanted to recreate the iconic scene using a style that matched the look of the film. Plus I had an excuse to draw a UFO, score!
I can still remember how pissed I was when the Army shot Klaatu as he was trying to give them a gift. I also remember how I cheered when Gort lit them up for doing it!
